In Today's NYT: Letter to the Editor Re: When Did Everything Become a ‘Journey’?
My Letter to the Editor in response to a New York Times Article
While scrolling the New York Times app, an article caught my attention. Entitled, When Did Everything Become a ‘Journey’?, the story struck close to home. My infertility journey, my surrogacy journey, my breast cancer journey. I often say this word wishing there was a better way to describe my experiences. These “journeys” will never be behind me; they will forever be a part of who I am and who I will become. Inspired, I wrote a letter to the editor, long-time New York Times staffer Tom Feyer, and it has been published today.

My Letter to the Editor —’Journey’ as a Metaphor
How do you feel about the metaphor of "journey"? Did talking to someone who has overcome a similar struggle ever help you? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
I’ll paint and mail a custom heart-person painting for the first twenty people who comment on this post! You read that right… all you need to do is leave a comment below, and I’ll be in touch about what custom art you’d like to receive or send to someone special.
I recently attended the
Live! event hosted by and had a chance to engage with individuals who won custom heart paintings. One woman asked me to paint her heart person holding two hearts. She is gifting it to a friend who recently lost twins. Another woman recently completed her memoir manuscript, and for her, I painted a heart person holding a book—a talisman to manifest her next goal: securing an agent. Someone else was drawn to a heart holding flowers and planned to simply pin it above her desk for daily inspiration. So, what are you waiting for? Comment now and I’ll be in touch about your free custom painting!
Thank you, Lia...again. It's not the first time - or the second time - that your words have resonated with me. Our journeys have crossed several times. From connection to your beautiful parents, job layoffs and writing to infertility and my "journey" to support my daughter. Your words are beyond inspiring, and I'm grateful for your generosity. 💕💕
I have loved the beautiful peak inside your world. For a girl that misses NYC, it has been so fun exploring with you!
