Listen Now: My Interview "Knowing you are not alone" on Sue Rocco's Women to Watch Podcast
When the path to motherhood takes unexpected turns: My candid conversation with Sue Rocco
This week, I had the honor of being interviewed by Sue Rocco for her acclaimed "Women to Watch Media®" podcast. Sue’s show shares the real stories behind the titles of some of the most accomplished women worldwide. Her mission is to inspire and encourage more women to pursue leadership roles globally.
Sue created this platform after discovering the need for candid conversations with women leaders. Over the past decade, she has interviewed remarkable women across diverse fields—from C-suite executives and scientists to notable journalists, philanthropists, and activists.

I'm humbled to join the ranks of previous distinguished guests including:
Amy Cuddy, renowned social psychologist.
Dr. Jen Welter, the first female NFL coach.
Liza Donnelly, celebrated New Yorker cartoonist.
Melissa Bernstein, co-founder of Melissa & Doug toys and fellow Duke University alum!
Amanda Hesser, co-founder of Food52.

Special thanks to

My episode explores how I navigated the unimaginable losses while simultaneously climbing the rungs of the corporate ladder. Susan and I discuss what helped me persevere both at home and in the workplace during these difficult times.
I share my story with the hope that it might reach other women facing similar challenges, letting them know they are not alone. This conversation represents not just my personal journey, but the resilience I've witnessed in so many people who are facing their own obstacles to motherhood.

Words of the Week
“I hope that people see themselves in my story and it gives them hope.” — Lia Buffa De Feo, on Sue Rocco’s Podcast
Photo of the Week
In my interview with Sue, she asks me how I kept going and maintained positivity when I felt like everything was lost and I spoke about how during a particularly challenging time, I began a practice to take a photo a day. The project forced me to find a moment of beauty and document it. It helped me look for the good when things felt pretty bad.
Today, I don’t adhere to a photo each day, but I often find myself observing the everyday with a different lens. On the subway the other day, someone had left one orange peanut M&M behind on an orange subway car, and that spoke to me. It felt like a Marcel Duchamp moment, and I captured it with the above photo.
This practice of finding moments of beauty in everyday life has been one of my anchors through difficult times—a tangible reminder that even in our darkest moments, there can be unexpected flashes of hope if we’re open to finding them.
This is awesome Lia! I can't wait to give it a listen!
Lia, the photo was amazing to me! Orange is my favorite color. I thought it was an abstract painting. I imagined it to be a beautiful sunset reflected in a body of water with a floating red buoy. What a surprise to learn it was a NYC subway seat with an M&M!
