Fascinating! Especially the gender norms that are revealed in these product artifacts. Thanks, Lia.

I also hated history in school -- It did not resonate with me. However, the book that opened my eyes to the beauty of non-fiction writing and the thrill of learning about history that affects me now is The Power Broker by Robert Caro about Robert Moses. Robert Moses was not a good guy, but he single-handedly changed the shape of New York City and Long Island. He created the Henry Hudson Parkway, the Verrazano Bridge and Jones Beach among other things.

The book is over 1,000 pages long, but I could not put it down. The book is definitely worth a read! The New York Historical Society is celebrating the book's 50th anniversary at its UWS location. I have not visited yet, but it runs until August 2025.
